Fire Suppression

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency currently provides fire suppression with ten (10) fire engines, five (5) brush trucks, one (1) ladder truck, and one (1) tanker. Our ISO rating will reduce your homeowners insurance. Be sure to contact your agent to ensure you get credit for our current ratings.

Emergency Medical Services

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency provides emergency medical services by staffing eleven (11) full time ambulances and maintain five (5) backup ambulances for additional emergencies, swap out for maintenance of the primary units, and staffing special events. These ambulances are staffed by Advanced EMT’s and Paramedics that are highly trained and dedicated to saving lives.

Communications

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency Emergency Communications Center (ECC) is a 24/7 answering point for EMS, Fire, Rescue, and Hazardous Materials for Wilson County.

The ECC has eight (8) full-time and four (4) part-time dispatchers. Dispatchers are trained in Public Safety Telecommunicator, Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD), and Fire Service Communications. Our Communications Division has joined the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and Wilson County E911 to create the Joint Communications Center(JCC).

Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Division provides emergency management and preparedness services to the unincorporated areas of Wilson County and to all the cities within its boundaries. There are currently 4 jurisdictions, public and private organizations and the general population within the boundaries of Wilson County.

Rescue

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency provides rescue services with one heavy rescue truck dedicated for rescue purposes. Each station has an engine that carries rescue equipment.

The rescue equipment on these engines are primarily for vehicle extrication.The fire engines at Station 1 and station 3 carry additional rescue equipment such as air bags, air tools, rescue baskets, etc. for more complex rescue operations.

We have a special response trailer dedicated to water rescue, as well as five (5) boats for water rescue.

WEMA has personnel trained in rope rescue, trench collapse, RIT, and more. 

Hazardous Material

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency handles hazardous material incidents in Wilson County. Wilson County has personnel at the Operations and TEMA Hazardous Materials Technician level for emergency response. WEMA is continually training it’s responders and working with key members of government to ensure that we are ready in the event of a Hazardous Materials incident.

Due to the recommendation from the U.S. Fire Administration’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Information Center, information about our Hazardous Materials equipment and response capabilities is limited online.

Water Rescue

Wilson County Emergency Management Agency has five (5) boats dedicated to water rescue. Two (2) are located at headquarters in Lebanon, one boat is a tritron and the other is a Carolina Skiff. One (1) inflatable for quick response is located at Station 6 in Laguardo and one SeaArk at Station 3 in Mt. Juliet.

This gives countywide coverage since Wilson County has fifty four (54) miles of shoreline to respond to and protect. The fifth boat is a Military bridge boat and it is stored on the water. This boat is a workhorse for water operations.

Chaplain

Chaplain Sue Street

Wilson County EMA personnel have one of the most stressful jobs in the world. The purpose of chaplains is to be available to help ease the burdens of our employees and volunteers, their families and others in the community affected by an emergency. We stand ready to respond with care, comfort, positive guidance and encouragement. We are in a position to assist other chaplains and agencies in the event of community disasters.

Mrs. Sue is the Head Chaplain and there are other Chaplains that support us daily and all their work is greatly appreciated.

Amateur Radio

Mission Statement

To provide support for the community and citizens of Wilson County through the direction of Wilson County Emergency Management Agency by delivering a high level of technical expertise through Amateur Radio and related technology.

Training

Wilson County EMA Training Division is responsible for training in EMS, Fire Fighting, Hazmat, Extrication, Water rescue and other Special Operations for over 130 full time, part time and volunteer personnel.

The Training Division conducts over 500 hours a year of in house training for Wilson EMA employees as well as personnel from outside departments. The men and women of this department dedicate over 2500 additional hours of Training outside the department at the Tennessee State Fire & Codes Academy, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads, hospitals, conferences and symposiums to ensure that we are giving our County the best care and response to any emergency.

The men and women of Wilson County Emergency Management Agency are dedicated, compassionate and highly trained. It is our honor to serve the citizens and visitors of Wilson County.

DART Team

Wilson Co DART is an all volunteer organization which falls under  Wilson County Emergency Management Agency. In September 2019 the Wilson Co DART Association: 501c3 came about!    

The Team meets monthly, at WEMA Training Center, providing the training needed for the volunteers to be an effectual response team for animals in disaster situations. WC DART has responded to local flooding and tornadoes in Macon County, TN, and has assisted animal controls when overwhelmed with an increased intake.

Honor Guard

 

The Wilson County EMA Honor Guard’s mission is to represent WEMA in a highly professional and dignified manner at a variety of functions.  The Honor Guard was formed in 2012 as a joint venture between WEMA and the Wilson County Firefighters Association.  Our primary role is to serve as the face of the department at funeral services for active and retired firefighters and EMS personnel both within Wilson County and across the state of Tennessee.  We also provide color guard services for community events that range from local ground-breaking ceremonies to nationally televised events such as Nashville Predators games, and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation fundraiser “Sounds in the Round”.

We currently have 14 members with a target of 15.
